Siemens announced the purchase of the American Dresser-Rand, for 7.6 billion US dollars.
The goal of the German conglomerate is to strengthen its oil and gas activities in North America.
Siemens plans to complete the transaction, which must be approved by Dresser-Rand shareholders and regulators in the United States and Europe, next summer.
The agreement allows the German company to access the American oil industry at a time when there is an exploitation boom, which has led to an increase in demand for services and equipment in this industry.
Dresser-Rand is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of oilfield, gas, petrochemical and industrial process equipment.
Based in Houston, Texas, it also has factories in France, UK, Spain, India and Brazil.
