British pound rebounded after Scottish independence was rejected


The pound sterling registered a marked rise in the markets as soon as the outcome of the Scottish independence referendum victory began to be known.

The British currency posted a two-year record against the euro in the early hours of trading in Tokyo, as it rose three cents against the dollar.

Fears of a prolonged and bitter separation between Scotland and the rest of the UK had generated nervousness in the markets over the past week, causing the pound to collapse.
